Job Description: Die Corrector - Dayshift
To correct and prepare aluminum extrusion dies to insure high speed production and meet all customer specifications.
Repair extrusion dies daily as required to meet extrusion schedules.
Assist departmental supervision in reviewing die trials and problem tooling at extrusion press. Provide report of die trials to supervision, management and suppliers as required.
Clean, polish, and deliver to press, extrusion dies for production.
Receive and check out new dies from suppliers.
Recommends to departmental supervision repairs or replacement of extrusion dies, backers, bolsters, rings, dummy blocks, etc.
· Purchase replacement tooling with necessary modifications documented.
· Review prints for new dies and supply feedback to engineering prior to die purchase.
· Communicate with the vendors any necessary changes to the tooling design and feedback from die trials and on-going production.
· Minimize the impact of tooling on the costs of the operation.
Will assist departmental supervision to insure production and quality is maintained to its highest level.
Responsible for all the operations associated with extrusion tooling, including die strip, storage, correction, changing, and preparation activities.
Respond to the technical and process direction of engineering and communicate extensively to keep management well-informed of all tooling issues and developments.
Monitor the die oven practices such that we do not sacrifice the full-life of the dies with improper heating practices.
Maximize the efficiency of the die strip operation with average turn-around time of 6 hours or less.
Track die and vendor performance and recommend options based on the analysis of this data to Director of Operations.
Work to achieve goal of accepted die trials 90%.
